Smoking and photography are not permitted in the house. Backpacks of any size and bags larger than 11" by 15" by 4" are not permitted in the house and must be left in the parking lot or at the Shuttle Station. Parents of an active child are asked to take turns viewing the house as a courtesy to other visitors.

When the wait for a house tour exceeds 45 minutes, Monticello uses a Line Release System to allow visitors to walk around the gardens and grounds, while waiting to see the house. Simply return to the line at the time indicated on the "line release card" distributed by a Visitors Service representative at the East Walk.

This was the best! Our driver was knowledgeable and fun. There were movies on the bus related to places in Virginia that we were passing. Monticello was beautiful and I especially enjoyed the tavern tour. A great value for your money. If you love history as I do this is a definite must.

I enjoyed visiting both Michie Tavern and Monticello. However, I would have preferred just riding past UVA rather than spending 40 minutes there. It took time away from Monticello, which was the main attraction of the trip. As a result, I was rushed getting back to the bus and did not get to see all of the attractions at Monticello.

Our driver was what made me rate the tour as a 5. He was outstanding, very friendly and informative. Lunch at Michey Tavern was fun and delicious. It would have been nice to have had a little more time to explore Monticello. We ended up having about 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. The only glitch was when we asked what time we needed to be there the eform said 7:30a, by phone 7:45a, at the tour office at 8am. Our tour finally left at 8:30am. The staff at Monticello was wonderful. It was an incredible experience getting to see this jewel.

I really enjoyed the tour of Monticello. The trip was comfortable and the driver's commentary during the trip added to the experience. Monticello itself was more than I expected. I could have easily used more time to experience more in depth.

The time at Monticello was too short. We only had time for one tour. Even though it would make a long day, we would have liked to have left DC earlier and stayed later.

Our family really enjoyed all aspects of the tour including U. Va., Michie Tavern and Monticello itself. The tavern tour was a real treat, and the guides there were great. Unfortunately, we had a bus driver who was a last minute substitute, so we didn't get the benefit of a "guide" on the drive down, or at U. Va., which would have saved us some wandering around. Our biggest complaint were some of the other travelers, who were repeatedly late returning to the bus at each stop. This ran us about half an hour behind by the time we reached Monticello, decreasing our time there. Still, it was a very interesting and enjoyable trip and a nice break from the DC museums. We didn't have a car, so it was a good way to visit historic sites outside DC. After seeing the traffic, I would recommend it even if you had a car, to avoid the drive!

The tour was very nice. The luncheon was great along with the tour of the restaurant. I only wish that we had move time at Monticello. Taking the long way back to DC and have a movie to watch was good. One last thing - a stop at the Jefferson Memorial on the way back would have been awesome.
